A big neighborhood family table.
So... what do these community dinners actually look like?
Who: YOU! Neighbors and Friends and the North City Community.
What: It will start with a meal, there will be kids programming, there will be music and focused teaching designed to set up discussion around the table.
When: 5 PM on Select Sundays:
June 14th & 28th
July 12th & 26th

Why: We are all about creating spaces where our neighbors and friends we love feel comfortable joining us around the table.

Ways to help:
Grab a seat at the table (put it in your calendar)! The #1 thing that will make this a success is your presence. A gathering centered on a community meal doesn't work with just a preacher, and a worship leader.... you, your presence - your story, your perspective, your interaction with neighbors - is the most important thing.
Join a host team and/or family life team: Host teams will be the hands and feet of the operation. This will be a fun way to serve (with your family if you want even!). This team will help with the set-up of our meals as well as greet folks and ensure they are welcomed. One way to help even more is to join the Family Life team and help our littlest North City folk engage with each other and learn about Jesus. Many people choose to serve on both the Host and Family life teams on the same Sunday. We recommend serving once a month.
Invite! Invite! Invite! : These gatherings are meant to be an easy invite for your friends or neighbors to come to a community space, be blessed with good food and conversation. THINK OF 3 friends or neighbors right now that you want to invite.
FAQ
What about kids, will there be programming for them?
YES! One of the exciting parts about leaning into this way of being the church is that we will be able to continue (even enhance) our current efforts to love our kiddos. In addition to steller age-appropriate programming for them, it’s a beautiful opportunity for them to see you as their parent interacting with friends and strangers in a loving way around a table. It’s hard to measure how deep of impact that will have on their faith.
What about teaching? Will there be sermons?
Teaching from our communicators will still be a part of the gathering but in an abbreviated focused form. There will be a 10-15 min teaching on the way of Jesus specifically designed to spark conversation around “tables” following the teaching. We will explore more forms of teaching this summer (if you haven’t listened to our podcasts yet, check them out!)
How’s the food? Is it a potluck? How can I help?
The majority of our meals are catered by Jailbreakers Catering LLC. We host these meals for free, but if you would like to make a contribution the best way to contribute to the meals is to become a recurring giver to North City. Your contribution helps fund the meals. We suggest starting with a $5/person contribution or a $25 cap per family - 2x per month = $50/month. If you aren’t ready for that you can give a one-time gift.
